LifeSafer pilots ISA with DC School Connect to further the District’s road safety initiatives

DC School Connect works with LifeSafer for Intelligent Speed Assistance pilot program. Learn how ISA technology can make D.C. roads safer.

ISA devices used in School Transportation to improve road safety

Following successful Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) pilot programs in the U.S. and Europe that demonstrated nearly 60% reductions in speeding violations, the Department of For-Hire Vehicles and the Highway Safety Office have partnered with LifeSafer to implement ISA devices across select school transportation vehicles in Washington, D.C.

With the help of DC School Connect, this groundbreaking safety initiative was launched in January of this year.

LifeSafer ISA devices serve as proactive safety measures that prevent dangerous driving behaviors before they occur, rather than responding after incidents have happened.

Rick Birt, director of D.C.'s Highway Safety Office, views this pilot as an opportunity to combat speeding while establishing a model for responsible driving throughout the city; “If our drivers are modeling the behavior we want to see in our roadways – that’s how we change the culture”.

Backed by more than three decades of leadership in road safety, this pilot program with LifeSafer shows strong potential. LifeSafer's ISA technology will not only prevent speeding but also cultivate long-term safe driving habits, avoiding traffic incidents and protecting communities.
